Iranian National Arrested Near UK’s Nuclear Submarine Base

An Iranian man and an unidentified woman were arrested near HM Naval Base Clyde, also known as Faslane, on Thursday evening. The base, located in Scotland, is home to the United Kingdom’s entire fleet of nuclear-armed submarines.

The pair reportedly approached the base’s gate around 5:00 PM without the necessary authorization to enter and were turned away before being detained by authorities. A defense source told The Times that the individuals were arrested due to suspicious behavior in the vicinity of the highly secure facility.

Faslane is one of the UK’s most critical military installations, housing the nation’s strategic deterrence and attack submarines. More than 2,000 Royal Navy personnel and civilian contractors work at the base, making security an absolute priority.

Former British Navy officer Ryan Ramsey, who was previously stationed at Faslane and commanded the nuclear-powered submarine HMS Turbulent, emphasized the base’s exceptional security measures. He explained that while civilians can drive up to the base’s entrance, passing the initial security gates without proper credentials and documentation is impossible.
