Korir Blazes to Boston Record in Dominant Performance
John Korir didn’t just win the 130th Boston Marathon; he shattered the course record, crossing the finish line in an astonishing 2 hours, 1 minute, and 52 seconds. This victory felt different for Korir, who described the experience as feeling “like I’m back home.” The roar of the crowd from start to finish fueled his incredible run, making him feel like he had arrived at a special place.
“I say, ‘Hey, you are in a course record.’ I say, ‘Oh, I made a course record. Let me start push faster so I can.'” Korir shared his excitement after realizing he was on pace to break the existing record. He felt even better this year than in his previous win, enjoying the race much more because he felt good from beginning to end.
Record-Breaking Goals Achieved
Waking up on race day, Korir had a clear objective beyond just winning. He had the course record in his sights, a goal he had set for himself. “Yeah, it was in my mind run the course record,” he confirmed.
He expressed gratitude for achieving this ambition, stating, “And I thank God that he fulfilled my my wishes. And now I’m the Boston course record holder.”
A Breeze Compared to Last Year
This year’s Boston Marathon was a stark contrast to Korir’s previous experience. Last year, he famously fell at the start and wasn’t feeling well as he crossed the finish line. This time, however, it was a completely different story.
“Today this year was very breeze for me because I had no problems from the start of the finish,” Korir explained. This smooth race allowed him to truly enjoy the event, leading him to say, “That’s why I told That’s why I said that I’ve enjoyed this this year’s Boston than last year.” He felt strong and problem-free throughout the entire 26.2 miles.
Sub-Two Hours? Not Yet on the Radar
Korir’s record-breaking time of 2:01:52 raises the question of whether a sub-two-hour marathon is possible at Boston. However, Korir isn’t focused on that monumental goal right now.
“I don’t know. Now now I’m I’m not thinking about that now,” he stated clearly.
His current priority is simply to compete and win. “It’s me just to show up and win the race, but I’m not running a sub two hours is not in my mind now,” Korir emphasized. For now, he is content with his incredible performance and his place in Boston Marathon history.
Personal Best and Future Outlook
Korir’s winning time was nearly three minutes faster than his previous personal best set last year. This massive improvement is something he planned for, focusing on his own race and performance. “Yeah, I feel even now you know I planned my personal best year.
So, I’m good at that. I enjoy,” he said, reflecting on his successful strategy.
Korir’s dominant performance at the Boston Marathon solidifies his status as a top marathoner. His focus remains on winning major races and achieving personal bests, with the sub-two-hour barrier a distant thought for the time being. The running world will be watching to see if he can continue this incredible form in future events.
