Congressman Questions Iran War Escalation Amidst Lack of Clarity

Democratic Congressman Jason Crow is voicing strong concerns about the direction of the United States’ involvement in Iran, stating that the war is becoming “way out of hand.” Speaking on D.N.I., Crow highlighted a disturbing lack of clear planning and intelligence behind President Trump’s decision to engage in military action. The Congressman expressed disappointment at the silence from many of his Republican colleagues, particularly fellow veterans, regarding the escalating situation. He noted that many who previously advocated for ending prolonged wars and reining in presidential war powers have become remarkably quiet.

Crow believes these individuals have “capitulated to Donald Trump.” He emphasized the need for the American people to know who is making critical decisions, especially when U.S. Service members are fighting and dying. Approximately 50,000 service members are currently in the Middle East, facing daily threats from drones and ballistic missile attacks.

Crow linked the current foreign policy actions to broader domestic concerns about “creeping authoritarianism” within the United States. He cited a recent survey where 40% of Americans described the country as an oligarchy, reflecting a deep distrust in government. The Congressman accused President Trump of weaponizing government departments against political opponents, including members of Congress.

He recalled an instance where Trump allies allegedly attempted to imprison him for upholding military adherence to the law and Constitution. Crow also pointed to troubling domestic events, such as the use of masked agents to arrest individuals and deport people without proper hearings, stating that “none of this is normal.”
