A high-speed police chase through Southern California concluded violently Tuesday afternoon, leading to a tense standoff in Harupa, Riverside County. Authorities have surrounded a white Cadillac CTS after it crashed into a concrete barrier following the use of a specialized police tool designed to stop fleeing vehicles.

The incident began when officers attempted to stop the Cadillac, which had heavily tinted windows. The driver refused to pull over, initiating a pursuit that drew the attention of local news helicopters, including Sky Fox. The chase ended abruptly on Belgra Avenue when law enforcement deployed a ‘grappler,’ a device that snags a vehicle’s wheels to bring it to a controlled stop.

The grappler successfully snagged the Cadillac’s wheels, but the vehicle lost control upon engagement. It veered sharply and slammed head-on into a concrete barrier on the opposite side of the road. The impact caused significant front-end damage to the sedan, leaving it disabled at the scene.

Following the crash, the driver of the Cadillac did not exit the vehicle.
