Seth Rollins Reveals He Turned Down Triple the Money to Join WWE

In a candid revelation that sheds light on the intense decisions faced by aspiring professional wrestlers, WWE superstar Seth Rollins disclosed on the Club Shay Shay podcast that he once rejected a lucrative offer from TNA (now Impact Wrestling) that was worth at least triple the money he eventually received from WWE. The decision, Rollins explained, was driven by a singular, unwavering desire to perform on the grandest stage of them all.

The Allure of the Big Leagues

Rollins, known for his intense in-ring performances and charismatic persona, admitted that while he was a proficient wrestler, he didn’t fit the typical physical mold that WWE was initially looking for. “They wanted you, you know, they wanted someone this size, right? They wanted 6’5, 250. They’ll teach you how to do the wrestling, right? I was really good at the wrestling, but I was never going to look like that,” Rollins stated.

Despite his talent, the path to WWE was not immediate. Rollins recounted a period where he was not receiving callbacks or responses from the company. “Nobody was picking up, nobody was answering emails,” he recalled.

A Pivotal Decision and a Nervous Wait

With a concrete offer on the table from TNA, Rollins found himself at a crossroads. “I had a deal on the table to for another company with TNA. And I was like, you know what? I don’t want to sign this deal. I just don’t know if I want to sign this deal. Like, WWE is where I want to be,” he explained.

In a bold move, Rollins made one final attempt to connect with WWE’s talent relations. “So, I made one final call and I said, ‘Hey, the guy’s um you know,’ I said, ‘Hey,’ the talent relations guy said, ‘Look, I’m going to sign this deal with TNA if I don’t hear back from you.'”

The response was not immediate, plunging Rollins into a period of agonizing suspense. “So, uh you know, it’s like Sunday night. I’m like, ‘I’m going to sign it in the morning.’ 15 minutes later, he calls me back. Hey, kid. Uh let me uh let me talk to my people,” Rollins recounted.

The subsequent wait was excruciating. “He didn’t tell me nothing yet. He didn’t like give me any indication. He said, ‘We’ll call you back in the morning.’ And I was like, ‘Oh, God.’ And oh god. So now I’m like sitting on it, you know? I’m waiting like I mean I couldn’t sleep that night. I was just like, ‘Come on, come on, come on, come on, come on.’ Cuz it could have just been easy. He come back and he just say, ‘Ah, nah, never mind.’ You know, so nothing was on the table.”

The Dream Opportunity

The call finally came, and it was the validation Rollins had been waiting for. “And then when he called back, he’s like, you know, we’re going to give you an opportunity, dude. I like I remember where I was standing. I remember where I was looking. I remember everything,” he said, the memory still vivid.

The financial aspect became secondary to the chance to pursue his ultimate ambition. “I didn’t give I didn’t give it damn how much the money was for. I didn’t care. I was like, that’s all I ever wanted was an opportunity. This is the biggest wrestling company in the world. This is my dream. This is all I ever wanted,” Rollins emphasized.

He reiterated the magnitude of his decision, stating, “I’m like, I do not even care. Like, I turned down probably at least triple the money to go to the other place to just I’m like, I can this is where I can make my way.”

What This Means for Rollins and WWE

Rollins’ unwavering commitment to his WWE dream, even when faced with a significantly more lucrative offer elsewhere, underscores the immense value he placed on the WWE platform. This dedication has clearly paid dividends, as Rollins has gone on to become one of WWE’s top stars, a multi-time world champion, and a cornerstone of the company’s creative direction.

His story serves as a powerful reminder that for many athletes, the pursuit of passion and the opportunity to compete at the highest level can outweigh financial considerations. The decision to prioritize his long-term dream has undoubtedly shaped his career trajectory and cemented his legacy within professional wrestling.
