WrestleMania 42: Key Questions Answered in Vegas!
As WrestleMania 42 approaches, First Take discusses the burning questions surrounding the event. From Rhea Ripley's potential comeback to Jade Cargill's big test and the rise of Omos, key rivalries and potential breakout stars are in focus.
WrestleMania 42: Key Questions Answered in Vegas!
WrestleMania is almost here, and the excitement is building as fans and analysts gear up for the big event in Las Vegas. Former WWE Champion Big E and WWE analyst Peter Rosenberg joined the First Take crew to break down the burning questions heading into the weekend.
Rhea Ripley’s Redemption?
When asked who will remind everyone how great they are, Big E pointed to Sami Zayn, noting his past main event status but also the shift in fan sentiment towards Trick Williams. However, Rosenberg has his eyes on Rhea Ripley.
“I really think this is a big weekend for Rhea. Like, while everybody is talking about the other massive stars in WWE, you cannot forget the champion that Rhea Ripley is. We’re talking about a first ballot hall of famer. No questions asked. It has been too long since she has had singles gold. I’m looking for Rhea to have a big comeback weekend.”
Rosenberg even confessed to being a huge fan of Ripley, a sentiment that didn’t shock his co-hosts.
Jade Cargill Faces a Huge Test
Big E introduced his “Five Count” segment, focusing on the top questions for WrestleMania. The first question: Is Jade Cargill ready for the moment against Rhea Ripley?
Ripley has a history of delivering classic matches, including a potential match of the year at last year’s WrestleMania. The bar is set high for Cargill to match Ripley’s in-ring performance for 20 minutes.
“Everyone knows how great Jade looks and how impressive, the charisma, all that. Can you go bell-to-bell with one of the best of all time at WrestleMania? Because that is the bar when you’re in the ring with Rhea.”
Will Seth Rollins and Gunther Steal the Show?
Another major question is which match will steal the show. Big E believes many are sleeping on the Seth Rollins vs. Gunther match.
While the build-up was quick, Big E loves that it’s a straightforward contest between two wrestlers who simply want to prove who the best is. However, Stephen A. Smith expressed a surprising lack of enthusiasm for Gunther, despite acknowledging his past appearances on the show and his impressive win over John Cena.
“Gunther… doesn’t move me. WOW. DOESN’T MOVE ME.”
Smith’s strong opinion was met with disbelief from his colleagues.
Can CM Punk Keep Up with Roman Reigns?
The next burning question is whether CM Punk can keep up with Roman Reigns. Much of the storyline has focused on Punk being older, with Reigns questioning if he’s past his prime. However, Punk has been verbally sharp, and some believe he’s had the edge on the microphone.
“On the mic, I think Punk has gotten the best of Roman so far, but the bottom line is Roman Reigns, just a few years younger than Punk, is in the best shape of his life. And I think it will be interesting to see if physically CM Punk is able to match what he’s done on the mic.”
Is Omos the Next Face of WWE?
A major talking point is whether Omos is the next face of WWE and if now is the right time. Big E is a firm believer that Omos is ready.
Described as a top-tier athlete, standing at 6’6″ and weighing 310 lbs, Omos has the look, the crowd support, and the momentum. His promo skills and presence have impressed many, including those who have seen him face Brock Lesnar.
“I think at WrestleMania, Omos shows the world that he is ready to be the face of WWE.”
Stephen A. Smith admitted he hasn’t watched Omos extensively but is intrigued, especially after seeing what he did to Brock Lesnar. Rosenberg noted that nearly every guest leading up to WrestleMania has mentioned Omos, highlighting him as a must-watch performer.
Will Pat McAfee Get Involved?
The final question on the Five Count is whether someone will get their hands on Pat McAfee. McAfee has made comments that have upset some fans and members of the locker room. His involvement in the Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton feud has added another layer of intrigue.
With over 20 years of history between Rhodes and Orton, the addition of Jelly Roll and Pat McAfee has certainly heightened the drama. The question remains: will someone confront McAfee?
“Is someone GOING TO PUT HANDS ON HIM OR NOT? THAT’S YOUR QUESTION.”
Stephen A. Smith humorously stated he’d need a nine-figure insurance policy to go near the situation. The discussion also touched on Randy Orton using Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts’ signature move, the DDT, with it being acknowledged as an homage to the legendary wrestler.
As the show wrapped up, the crew expressed their excitement for WrestleMania and their anticipation for the event in Vegas.
