Ripley Brings Brutality to WrestleMania 42 Stage

Las Vegas is buzzing as WrestleMania 42 approaches, and Rhea Ripley, known as ‘The Eradicator,’ is ready to unleash her signature brand of ‘brutality’ on Sunday. Days before her massive WWE Women’s Championship match against Jade Cargill on night two, Ripley sat down with SportsCenter to discuss her mindset and what fans can expect.

Ripley made it clear that her approach is simple: bring the pain. “My approach is always the same, bring the brutality,” she stated. She emphasized that her body is built for the fight, not just for show. Ripley has dedicated over 13 years to this sport, with many of those years spent in WWE. This upcoming match will mark her seventh consecutive WrestleMania appearance.

“I’ve built myself for this, not only physically, but also mentally,” Ripley explained. “So, I’m going to go out there and I’m going to do what I do best, and that is bring the brutality and not hold back anything.” Her extensive experience on wrestling’s biggest stage has taught her valuable lessons, particularly perseverance.

Lessons from the Grandest Stage

Having shared the ring with some of the sport’s most seasoned veterans, Ripley has gained immense confidence. “I’ve been able to hang with them, and that’s given me some sort of confidence and showed me that I can pretty much do as I please,” she said. This confidence stems from knowing she belongs among the WWE’s top talent, a roster she describes as “absolutely stacked.”

Her previous WrestleMania encounters have also shown her the limits of her own endurance and strength. “I’ve learned a lot about myself throughout these matches, and I’ve just been able to see how far I can push my body and what I can really stand,” Ripley shared. This self-awareness is crucial as she prepares for another high-stakes battle.

Navigating Rivalries Beyond Cargill

While the championship match against Jade Cargill is the main event, Ripley acknowledged the ongoing drama involving her former tag team partner, Io Shirai. Over the past few weeks, Ripley and Shirai have found themselves in conflict not only with Cargill but also with the formidable duo of Asuka and Kairi Sane.

Ripley expressed deep loyalty to Shirai, recalling their past success as a tag team. “I love Io Shirai. I absolutely love her,” Ripley stated. “She helped me through a very dark place at the beginning, and she helped me grow as an individual.” Now, their roles have reversed, with Shirai trying to help Ripley with the Cargill situation, while Ripley attempts to support Shirai in her ongoing feud with Asuka and Sane.

“We’ve always been targeted because we’ve been the top girls for so long,” Ripley noted. “So, like we’re used to having that target on our back, and we’re just going to have to fight through it all.” She firmly believes that she and Shirai are both built for fighting and will ultimately emerge victorious, as they always do.

A Message for Jade Cargill

When asked what she wanted to say to Jade Cargill before their showdown, Ripley’s message was direct and challenging: “Bring it.” She hopes Cargill brings her absolute best, warning that she will need it.

“I don’t think you fully understand who you’re stepping in the ring with,” Ripley declared. While acknowledging that Cargill might not know the full extent of Ripley’s capabilities, she sees this uncertainty as a recipe for excitement. “That’s what makes magic, and that’s what’s going to make it scrappy, and that’s what’s going to make it fun.”

Ripley thrives on competition, stating, “I love fighting. Fighting is fun for me.” She promised to give everything she has, both mentally and physically. “I’m going to walk out with your WWE Women’s Championship, because I’m Rhea bloody Ripley, and Mommy is always on top, and I’m going to make sure you never forget that.”
