Norway and Ukraine have signed a new declaration to strengthen their defense and security cooperation, signaling a deeper strategic partnership between the two nations. He emphasized that Ukraine’s struggle is vital for defending European values like democracy and independence. Norway sees value in learning from Ukraine’s combat experiences to inform its own long-term defense planning.

“We agreed to work towards the strategic partnership between Norway and Ukraine because Ukraine is providing a lot in return,” stated Prime Minister Støre. “Ukraine’s struggle is a struggle for key values in our Europe, resisting occupation, resisting aggression, defending democracy and independence.”

Focus on Drones and Industrial Collaboration

“We are improving defense against Shahid drones and we believe this should also be done in Europe,” President Zelenskyy remarked. “We are ready to share and we share everything with our partners with Norway and with the private sector and with all countries.”

President Zelenskyy expressed gratitude for Norway’s support in the Patriot air defense missile program, which is crucial for defending Ukrainian skies. “Norway has donated six F-16 planes to Ukraine,” explained Prime Minister Støre. “They were planes that were not in active operation in Norway because we have had for some years F-35s. So they were planes that would need important reparations and preparations to be included in the Ukrainian Air Force.”

Energy Cooperation and Resilience
