Navy Veteran Bale Dalton Launches Congressional Bid in Florida’s 7th District

In a move signaling a potential shift in Florida’s 7th Congressional District, Navy veteran Bale Dalton has announced his candidacy for the U.S. House of Representatives. Dalton, who has dedicated his life to public service since the age of 18, is challenging incumbent Representative Corey Mills. The announcement came during an interview with Bobby Jones of Midas Touch and Valley Media Networks, where Dalton articulated his vision for a representative government focused on constituents’ needs rather than self-enrichment.

A Career Defined by Service

Dalton’s background is steeped in military and public service. A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, his extensive Navy career included service as a helicopter pilot, search and rescue operations, participation in Hurricane Katrina relief, and multiple deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. He served with Naval Special Warfare Group One, providing forward air control for SEALs in Afghanistan, and continues to serve in the reserves. His leadership experience extends to commanding a Navy Special Operations Support Helicopter Squadron. Dalton emphasized that his time in the Navy instilled in him the importance of selfless leadership and prioritizing the mission and the well-being of those under his command.

“You know, this is what you can do when you’ve got everybody rowing together and and headed for a particular mission. You know, sometimes putting disagreements and differences aside to find compromise, but really having everybody that’s, you know, put their, you know, life and livelihood on the line to achieve success.”

Dalton drew parallels between his military experience and the requirements of public office, stressing that effective leadership is about serving others, a principle he feels is sorely lacking in Washington D.C.

Critique of Current Political Landscape

During the interview, Dalton did not shy away from criticizing the current state of American politics, particularly the perceived self-serving nature of many elected officials. He expressed concern that politicians in Washington have become disconnected from the struggles of everyday Americans, focusing instead on personal gain, power, or fame.

“What bothers me most about it, it seems like the politicians in DC are really, you know, more focused on themselves. You know, whether it’s their own livelihood or their bank account or, you know, what power means to them or fame means to them,” Dalton stated. He highlighted the affordability crisis affecting Central Florida residents, including concerns about healthcare costs and making ends meet, issues he believes are being ignored by current representatives.

Focus on Florida’s 7th District

Dalton described Florida’s 7th District as a region with a unique blend of industries, from agriculture and aerospace to tourism and health services. He stressed that the constituents of this district deserve representatives who understand their livelihoods and actively work to support them, not hinder them.

He specifically criticized his potential opponent, Representative Corey Mills, for his voting record, which Dalton claims has made life more difficult for Floridians. This includes votes to cut Medicaid, reduce resources for rural hospitals, and not extend Affordable Care Act (ACA) subsidies. Dalton also raised serious concerns about Mills’s background, questioning the veracity of his military service claims and highlighting allegations of self-enrichment through foreign weapons dealing and potential campaign finance irregularities.

“We know the more people talk about their, you know, heroic actions, the less likely they are to have occurred, right? We just that’s just that’s human nature. We know that already. And when you’ve got folks that have actually served with you, asking questions, people that have served with Congressman Mills talking about he wasn’t even there or he has not performed the actions that he says he has. I mean, that’s a great concern to me and it brings dishonor and discredit to his own unit as well as to us as a veteran community.”

Dalton further pointed to Mills’s inability to work with colleagues across the aisle, leading to legislative gridlock and a waste of valuable congressional time that could be spent addressing constituent needs.

A Call to Action for Voters

Dalton is positioning himself as a candidate who embodies the oath of service he took as a midshipman, an oath he believes has no expiration date. He is urging voters in Florida’s 7th District to choose a representative committed to selfless leadership and focused on their needs.

“With me, you have someone who’s got a lot of different experiences. Of course, this is my first time running for Congress, but I think all of those things lead into the type of person that folks should be interested in learning more about and choosing as their representative. Because again, we all deserve representatives that are focused on our needs and not their own,” Dalton concluded. He invited constituents to learn more about his campaign at baledalton.com, emphasizing the need for voters to demand representatives who prioritize service over self-interest.
