RFK Jr. Accused of Making Measles ‘Great Again’ Amid Vaccine Policy Shifts
Pennsylvania Congressman Brendan Boyle is criticizing Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., accusing him of policies that have led to a resurgence of measles. Boyle also condemned alleged misinformation and significant healthcare budget cuts proposed by the administration. He stated that when Medicaid cuts take effect, the public will clearly see who has been truthful about healthcare access.
Congressman Slams Health Secretary’s Actions
Pennsylvania Congressman Brendan Boyle, a prominent Democrat, is sharply criticizing Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Boyle argues that Kennedy’s policies have led to a resurgence of measles, a disease once largely eradicated in the United States. This criticism comes as Kennedy faces increased scrutiny over his public health decisions, particularly those affecting vaccination recommendations.
During recent congressional hearings, Kennedy attempted to moderate his long-held skepticism about vaccines. He stated that the measles vaccine is safe and effective for most Americans.
He even suggested it might have saved children who died in a recent outbreak. However, Boyle remains unconvinced, pointing to actions taken by Kennedy that he believes contradict these statements.
Measles Resurfaces Amidst Vaccine Skepticism
The return of measles is a significant concern for public health officials. This disease, preventable by vaccination, had been nearly eliminated in the U.S. for over 50 years.
Congressman Boyle highlighted the current outbreak in Utah as a clear example of this alarming trend. He links this resurgence directly to increased vaccine skepticism, partly fueled by figures like Kennedy.
“What he has done is actually made measles great again,” Boyle stated during a recent interview. “For the first time in my lifetime, we have seen the return of measles.” He expressed concern that Kennedy’s public statements do not always align with his actions as Secretary. Boyle fears this inconsistency undermines public trust in essential health measures.
Budget Cuts and Healthcare Agenda Under Fire
Beyond vaccine policy, Boyle also raised serious concerns about broader healthcare funding under the current administration. He pointed to the cancellation of over $180 million in National Cancer Institute grants last year. He cited a proposed cut of more than $5 billion to the National Institutes of Health.
When confronted with these figures, Boyle accused Secretary Kennedy of misleading Congress. “He just flat out misled and lied, said that there were no cuts at all whatsoever,” Boyle remarked.
He views these actions as part of a larger agenda that he believes is detrimental to public health. Boyle argued that these cuts, along with tax breaks for the wealthy and increased defense spending, show a misaligned set of priorities.
Testimony on Tax Bill and Healthcare Losses
Congressman Boyle also described his committee’s questioning of Russell Vogt, Director of the White House Office of Management and Budget. Vogt testified before the House Budget Committee regarding proposed cuts to social safety net programs and the administration’s 2027 budget. This budget includes a significant increase in defense spending.
Boyle presented Vogt with data suggesting that a recent tax bill could lead to over 15 million Americans losing healthcare coverage. He cited scores from the Congressional Budget Office and analyses from various think tanks.
When asked to justify these potential losses, Vogt reportedly claimed the affected individuals were all living in the country illegally and defrauding the system. Boyle called this claim “absolute nonsense,” emphasizing that federal law prohibits paying for healthcare for undocumented immigrants.
“Right now under U.S. federal law, it is illegal to pay for health care benefits for any person who is here unlawfully. So the best that the other side can do is just a flat out lie.”

Medicaid Cuts Looming
Boyle warned that the full impact of these healthcare cuts will become apparent starting in December. He specifically mentioned deep cuts to Medicaid, which he predicts will result in approximately 10 million people losing coverage. He believes that when these cuts take effect, the public will see clearly who has been providing factual information.
“When those people start to lose their health care coverage, they will know which one of us is telling the truth and sticking to the facts and which one of us is not,” Boyle concluded. He reiterated his commitment to holding officials accountable for policies that he believes harm American families.
