Stamos’s Fear, Saget’s Prank, and Dwarf Acting Woes

Comedian Brad Williams is opening up about a hilarious and terrifying prank involving actor John Stamos and the late, great Bob Saget. It all started when Williams learned about Stamos’s unusual phobia: aondrophobia, the fear of little people. This fear is real, and Williams shared how he and Saget decided to test Stamos’s limits.

The Infamous Prank

Williams was set to perform on a show with several comedians, including Bob Saget. He had never met Saget before that night. Before the show, Saget came to Williams’s dressing room with an idea.

“Hey Brad, you have to meet John Stamos,” Saget told him. Williams was excited, but Saget then revealed the reason: “Because John is deathly afraid of little people.”

Williams didn’t hesitate. He walked with Saget to Stamos’s dressing room. As soon as Stamos opened the door, Williams ran up, grabbed his leg, and began playfully humping it.

“I am getting his knee pregnant,” Williams joked. Stamos, completely caught off guard, let out a high-pitched scream and tried to kick Williams off. Saget, meanwhile, was reportedly laughing uncontrollably at the scene.

“John, you scream like a little girl,” Williams recalled. It was a moment that perfectly captured Saget’s legendary sense of humor and Stamos’s unexpected fear.

Stamos Overcomes His Fear

Fast forward a few years, and Williams was attending a charity comedy show hosted by Bob Saget’s family for the Scleroderma Foundation. John Stamos spotted Williams across the room. Instead of avoiding him, Stamos walked over, grabbed Williams’s hand, and led him to Jimmy Kimmel’s table.

Stamos introduced Williams to Kimmel and Don Rickles, saying, “Jimmy, look. See, I’m fine now. I’m good.” Williams noted that Stamos seemed much more comfortable around him and possibly other little people.

“John is doing very well now,” Williams said. “Props to him.”

Acting Roles and the ‘Snow White’ Controversy

The conversation then shifted to acting and the roles available for dwarf actors. Williams has worked in the industry, appearing in films like “Hercules Saves Christmas” and recently in “Spinal Tap 2” alongside Wee Man. He even shared a scene with Sir Elton John, where the music icon hilariously asked him, “Who the hell are you?”

However, Williams expressed frustration over the casting decisions for Disney’s live-action “Snow White” movie. He was particularly upset that the traditional dwarf roles were removed. “Thanks, Dinklage,” Williams said, directly addressing Peter Dinklage.

He explained that Dinklage had mentioned on a podcast his concerns about the stereotypical portrayal of dwarves. While Williams respects Dinklage’s intention to avoid demeaning roles, he felt it took away opportunities from actors like himself and his young daughter.

The initial plan was “Snow White and the Seven Dwarves,” but it changed to “Snow White and the Seven Magical Beings,” featuring a diverse group, including one little person. Later, Disney announced they would use CGI to create the dwarves.

“Could you imagine if they’re doing ’12 Years a Slave’ and all the slaves are CGI black people, how mad you would be?” Williams asked. He feels this decision sidelines dwarf actors who were born to play these iconic roles.

“I was mad. I’m still mad.”

‘Tiptoes’ and Double Standards

Williams also pointed out what he sees as a double standard, referencing the movie “Tiptoes.” This film stars Matthew McConaughey and Kate Beckinsale, with Gary Oldman playing a dwarf character. “Why not get a real dwarf to play?” Williams questioned.

He described Oldman as being on his knees, with his arms tied back to hide his height. Shockingly, Peter Dinklage also appeared in “Tiptoes.” Williams called it “the most offensive movie to little people ever made” and urged viewers to watch it to see the hypocrisy.

Despite his strong opinions, Williams expressed respect for Peter Dinklage. He recalled that when Dinklage hosted Saturday Night Live, he specifically requested that there be no dwarf jokes. Williams hopes to have a conversation with Dinklage someday to understand his perspective better.
