Chicago is set to witness a potential historic moment this Saturday as 21-year-old phenom Javon Evans prepares to make his highly anticipated debut inside the Elimination Chamber. Fresh off his first Royal Rumble appearance, Evans is staring down the barrel of his biggest career test yet, with the ultimate prize – a main event spot at WrestleMania – hanging in the balance.
Speaking ahead of the grueling contest, Evans admitted to a mix of nerves and sheer excitement. “I’m nervous. Uh I I know, you feel me? Um this is my first time in the chamber, like you said, and uh I don’t know. I feel like the chamber is such like an underrated match, feel me? I’m I’m a big Elimination Chamber uh fan. So, this is kind of like a a dream for me,” he shared, revealing his long-held admiration for the unforgiving structure.
The young competitor acknowledged the immense pressure that comes with being in the spotlight. “Of course. Of course I feel pressure. I feel like it’s kind of like a a chip on my shoulder. You know what I mean? But also kind of just want to remind everybody that like yes, I’m able to do a lot of crazy stuff, especially in this match, but also there’s a goal for this uh for the match. You know what I mean? If I win, I get the main event Wrestlemania. If I main event, if I main event Wrestlemania, that’s my first Wrestlemania and I’m a main event. Like that that that’s crazy. So I I got to keep the goal in mind.”
For Evans, the possibility of headlining WrestleMania in his rookie year is almost unfathomable. “That that would be legitimately an iconically historic moment if as a rookie essentially you main evented Wrestlemania,” he stated, the weight of the potential achievement palpable in his voice.
A Chamber of Dreams and Fears
The Elimination Chamber, a match known for its brutal physicality and unpredictable outcomes, holds a special place in Evans’ heart. He described his fascination with the match’s aesthetic and history. “I think like the the um like how like the chains are on the wall and like how how the chain used to be like on the on the ground, you know what I mean? Like it it’s crazy. So, and you’re going to have some crazy ideas. So, I’m excited. I’m ready.”
This Saturday will mark his first physical encounter with the imposing structure. “Yeah. No, Saturday is going to be uh the first time. Um I I’m highly excited. I can’t wait to just walk in the arena. I probably won’t even drop my bags off to the locker room. You know what I mean? I’m not even going to go straight to the locker room. I’m going straight to the arena. You feel me? Uh so I I am excited to see it and kind of see it in real life. Gone. It’s true form, you feel me? It’s it’s it’s a great thing to to feel. I’m excited.”
Highlight Reel Moments and Parental Pride
Evans has already produced jaw-dropping moments, including a recent spectacular “OG cutter” that left viewers stunned. Reflecting on the move, he attributed it to intense focus and a touch of luck. “Boy, I ain’t going to lie, OG, that was luck. I mean, I was focused, you feel me? uh gang went up there and I just remember looking like I was trying to sneak on the other side and he just he jumped and I I just somehow timed it perfectly, but I was like I I was so locked in and so focused, you know what I mean? Like I had to time that out perfectly and that’s what happened.”
Beyond the in-ring heroics, Evans spoke with deep emotion about the unwavering support of his parents. “Oh, it it means a lot. You know what I mean? Uh my mom has always supported me. Um I’ve been training since I was 13, you know what I mean? So, since day one, she she’s always had my back. Same thing with my pops, too. But they they both both uh done their thing and made sure that I was always in good hands and and nothing they they never led me to uh any anything bad, you know what I mean? They always had my back and always made sure that, you know, always believed in me too. Feel me? So it’s it’s a blessing to have uh great parents that believe in you and make sure that you accomplish your dream, not something that they want you to do.”
The Young Role Model
At just 21 years old, Evans is acutely aware of his position as a role model for a new generation of wrestling fans. “Uh, no, not yet, honestly. Uh, I think I’m just so focused on honestly just having fun, you know what I mean? And I haven’t really like stepped back and and seeing the uh positive effect that I have, you know, led on to younger generation and younger fans, you feel me? But it’s great to see and great to know that like now I’m getting uh looked at as a role model, you know, especially at a very young age, you feel me? So, it’s it’s great and hopefully I can continue to do that for the younger generation.”
Sharing the Ring with Legends
The prospect of sharing the Elimination Chamber with established legends like Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes is a surreal experience for Evans. “Oh, yeah, of course. I feel like that that happens u all the time. Usually, honestly, since I’ve been on Raw, you know what I mean? Like everybody that I have faced or most of the people I have faced since I’ve been on Raw are people that I grew up watching. You know what I mean? I grew up watching Kobe Kingston. I grew up watching Randy and Cena and Cody. You know, even in the Royal Rumble when I was in the ring with all those OGs. It was it was crazy. I was just getting beat up by people I grew up watching. You know what I mean? I took F5 by Brock Lesnar. I was hyped. You feel me? So, it was great. It was fine. It hurt. But when I landed, I was like, ‘All right, that was that was cool.'”
He’s particularly eager for his one-on-one encounter with Cody Rhodes. “So, but no, no, I’m excited to step in the ring with uh Randy once again and um Cody. Technically, this is like not the first time we stepped in the ring because of the rumble, but this is the first time we can actually like, you know, uh go headtohead, you know? So, so I’m excited to experience that for sure.”
Recounting an early encounter with Orton, Evans described the Viper’s imposing presence. “Crazy quick story real quick. So he pulls up to NXT, right? And uh he pulls up in like the hoodie and I didn’t know. So uh me and uh Terry Taylor, we like walking, you know what I mean? Trying to find Randy and u we’re like at the entrance ramp and he’s at the bottom of the entrance, but he’s like hooded up and we’re like, ‘Bro, we don’t know where Randy is.’ Like we we don’t know if he pulled up yet. He might be still in the locker room. And we walk past Randy. I kind of like looked and he’s like, ‘Oh, what’s up, Javon?’ And I was like, ‘Oh, good God.’ BLACK, I see you, OG. N OG a beast though for real.”
As Evans embarks on this monumental challenge, the wrestling world watches with bated breath, anticipating the rise of a potential future legend. His journey from fan to contender, fueled by family support and a burning ambition, is a story that has only just begun.
