In a recent interview, a high-ranking UK official emphasized that while Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed willingness to talk peace, he must be compelled to negotiate genuinely and offer terms acceptable to Ukraine. The official stated, “Russia does not want peace. It is not seeking a ceasefire and President Putin and Russia will have to be forced to the negotiating table and to offer terms that are acceptable to Ukraine.” This stance comes as the conflict enters its fifth year, with ongoing, albeit challenging, diplomatic efforts to achieve a resolution.
