Fire Truck Transformed into Ultimate Gaming Rig
A standard fire truck has been dramatically transformed into an ultimate mobile gaming and entertainment hub, complete with PC gaming stations, a cinema setup, and a DJ booth, all powered by AMD technology. This ambitious project redefines the capabilities of an emergency vehicle.
Fire Truck Transformed into Ultimate Gaming Rig
What happens when you take a fully functional fire truck and equip it with the latest gaming technology? The answer, as revealed in a recent ambitious project, is an emergent gaming paradise that redefines what an emergency vehicle can be. This massive undertaking, sponsored by AMD, has transformed the interior of a fire truck into a multi-faceted entertainment hub, seamlessly blending high-performance gaming with cinematic experiences.
From Emergency Response to Epic Entertainment
The journey began almost a year ago with the unboxing of a real fire truck, initially presented as an April Fool’s prank that turned out to be genuine. Since then, the desire to create a “gaming fire truck” has been a constant in the minds of the creators and their audience. With the “Whale Land” event on the horizon, the timing was perfect to overhaul the fire truck’s interior, making it ready for its new role.
“This has been our biggest vehicle upgrade yet,” the creator enthuses, highlighting the scale of the project. The transformation is made possible by AMD’s sponsorship, which has facilitated the integration of a theater-grade Dolby Atmos sound system, a “world’s coolest Nintendo Switch 2,” and numerous gaming PCs, both inside and around the vehicle.
Gaming on the Go: A 4v4 Outdoor Arena
One of the most exciting planned features is an outdoor gaming setup. The exterior of the truck will be divided into four distinct zones, each offering a unique experience. One side will feature a 4v4 PC gaming arena. AMD-powered gaming PCs will be deployed, allowing players to escape the heat outside while engaging in intense virtual battles. To manage power consumption and keep the system efficient, the build will utilize AMD Ryzen 5 9600X CPUs and RX 6700 XT GPUs. While not the absolute latest, these components offer a significant drop in power usage, a worthwhile trade-off for a mobile setup.
Challenges such as screen peaking and waterproofing have been considered. The plan is to mitigate screen peaking by designing the setup for couch co-op experiences, effectively turning it into multiple mini-gaming stations. Waterproofing is a significant concern, given the nature of a fire truck, with plans to address the numerous drill holes throughout the vehicle.
Cinematic Experience: A Mobile Movie Theater
Another side of the truck is dedicated to an epic movie-watching setup. A projector will be housed in one cabinet, with speakers in another, and inflatable couches ready to be deployed. To ensure a smooth viewing experience in a moving vehicle, a solid-state projector will be used to prevent bulb damage from vibrations. For the screen, a large 200-inch inflatable screen from Soundcore is planned, offering a truly immersive outdoor cinema.
Powering these setups is a key consideration. The team plans to use large portable power stations to avoid constant engine idling, which would consume excessive fuel and pose exhaust fume risks if run indoors. The estimated power draw for the gaming PCs is around 500 watts peak, with the projector drawing slightly less. While speakers can be power-hungry, the plan is for only one set to be at full volume at a time, allowing them to share the power budget.
The DJ Booth and Interior Upgrades
Adding to the party atmosphere, the top of the truck will house controls for pumps and a DJ booth. This modern DJ setup will feature an iPad controlling music, speakers, lasers, and a fog machine. While engineers initially had concerns about modifying controls, the team found a workaround, ensuring the party can commence.
Inside the cabin, significant upgrades have already been made. The AV receiver, crucial for the sound system, is now securely mounted with aluminum brackets, replacing its previous precarious dash position. New RGB strip lighting and a tube light illuminate the cabin, and a mini-fridge has been cleverly integrated between the subwoofers, despite a minor clearance issue with the door.
Reimagined Audio and Visuals
The entire audio setup has been reconfigured for optimal crew entertainment. The center channel speaker has been moved to the rear, and the former rear speakers now serve as the front stereo speakers, with the former front speakers becoming the rear surrounds. This allows the crew, rather than just the driver, to enjoy the entertainment.
Replacing the small tablet screen is a stunning 42-inch LG C4 OLED display. The tank holders and seats have been removed to make way for custom, comfortable cushions. The fabrication guru, Justin, has outdone himself with a Nintendo Switch 2 display that features integrated, magnetic controller shelves, making it incredibly convenient to grab and play.
A Community Effort and Future Plans
The project has been a collaborative effort, with shout-outs to Justin and David for their fabrication and calibration work. The creators even invited them to join a game of Mario Kart on the new setup, showcasing the immersive experience and the impressive sound quality, even with the doors open. The computational audio technology is particularly praised for delivering excellent sound despite non-optimal speaker placement.
This is just part one of the fire truck transformation. Future videos promise more reveals and the completion of the exterior modifications. The team encourages viewers to subscribe to catch all the action and to check out AMD’s links for more details on the technology used. The project’s success so far has been immense, with much more to come.
