Ukraine’s Drone Expertise Becomes Critical for US Amidst Middle East Tensions

Tucker noted that “the harshest winter that Ukrainians had endured since the start of the war had finished… For the last two weeks, the Ukraine has been enjoying quite a steady supply of electricity in the capital.” He also cited reports indicating that “the West believes that um Russia is now taking more casualties than it can replenish with its um recruitment rate.” However, the advent of the war in the Gulf has fundamentally altered this outlook, with rising oil prices now seen as a significant financial boon for Putin’s regime.

Air Defense Systems Under Strain

A key concern highlighted by Tucker and echoed by Novikov is the strain on critical air defense systems, particularly the U.S.-made Patriot missiles. In recent weeks, Ukraine has reportedly used more Patriot missiles than have been produced by Lockheed Martin in the past two years. This unprecedented demand raises fears that Ukraine could be relegated to the bottom of the supply list, with the U.S. and its Gulf allies taking priority.

“There is obviously going to be a serious demand crisis now for these Patriot missiles and that inevitably means that Ukraine is going to slip down the list and and you know it’s it’s worried that it’s going to be US first then Gulf allies — and Ukraine at the bottom of the list waiting for these rockets which are really really crucial because obviously they are the only things that um can intercept Russian ballistic missiles being fired at Kiev and other cities.”

Novikov, while acknowledging the depletion of air defenses as a significant danger, cautioned against interpreting this as a precursor to Ukraine’s collapse. He stated, “the only real danger that I’m seeing, I’m not that worried about the economy… the real danger that I’m seeing now is the depletion of air defenses. So obvious with everything going to the m to the US and to the m middle east — we have far less protection especially from the ballistic missiles.” However, he added that this does not signal an inevitable defeat, suggesting that Ukraine possesses the capacity to adapt and employ “asymmetric action” to alter the course of the war.

Tucker explained that European nations, which have invested heavily in restoring Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and providing essential supplies, may face diminished capacity to offer future support. Increased spending on oil and gas due to price spikes could divert resources away from aid to Ukraine.

“First, European powers will have less money to spend. They’ll have less resources if they’re spending more of their budget on on oil and gas. They have less to contribute to Ukraine and Russia will have on on the other hand more money coming to its coffers,” Tucker elaborated.

“It’s simply going to cost them a lot of money because a 20,000 drone can do a billion dollars worth of damage. So, that’s the easy maths that we’ve kind of learned. So that having seen firsthand the technology that’s out there on the front line and with potential proliferation of that technology to the theater in the Middle East, I think you know either America will come to us now or they will come in a few weeks time having learned the high the hard and very expensive lessons because it’s no longer the conventional war that everyone’s used to. Now it’s all about drones, all about technology.”
