Rollins Sets Sights on Championship Gold Upon WWE Return

WWE superstar Seth Rollins, still on the mend from rotator cuff surgery performed in October, is inching closer to a full return to the squared circle. While he confirmed he’ll be sidelined for the upcoming weekend’s events, the former World Heavyweight Champion expressed optimism about his recovery, noting the removal of his sling and improved mobility. “We’re getting close. We’re getting close. We’re not all the way there, but we’re getting close, guys,” Rollins stated during a recent appearance on First Take.

When pressed about his most anticipated opponent upon his official return, Rollins didn’t hesitate. His primary target is clear: whoever holds the World Heavyweight Championship. Rollins vehemently believes he never legitimately lost the title, having been forced to relinquish it due to his injury. “The bottom line is whoever is holding on to my World Heavyweight Championship. Because what you got to understand is I never lost that title. I was forced to give that title up due to injury. So, I want my title back right now,” he declared.

Championship Aspirations and the Elimination Chamber Landscape

Rollins acknowledged the current landscape, with CM Punk holding the title and facing Finn Balor at the upcoming Elimination Chamber event. He also noted that the winner of that match could potentially face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40. Regardless of who emerges victorious, Rollins made his intentions known: “Either way, somebody’s defending that title against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania. And whoever comes out of that, I won next, boys. That title’s mine. I never lost it.”

Becky Lynch’s Title Defense and AJ Lee’s Return

The conversation also touched upon Rollins’ wife, Becky Lynch, who is set to face AJ Lee in a singles title match. Rollins expressed immense confidence in Lynch, referring to her as “the greatest of all time” and “the man.” He highlighted the significance of AJ Lee’s return to one-on-one competition after more than a decade. “AJ Lee in her time, great divas champion. That was a long time ago. AJ Lee is having her first singles match, one-on-one competition in over a decade, and she is going in there against a woman who has made her name as the greatest of all time for that last decade. And that is the man, big time, Beex, Becky Lynch,” Rollins explained. He confidently predicted Lynch’s victory, stating, “There’s no doubt in my mind she walks out of Chicago still intercontinental champion. I mean, look at this. Look at this stun. You put her in there with anybody, she can take him out. She don’t AJ don’t stand a chance.”

Analyzing the Men’s Elimination Chamber Match

Turning his attention to the men’s Elimination Chamber match, Rollins shared his excitement about the diverse field. He pointed out the mix of established stars like Jay Uso, Randy Orton, and Cody Rhodes, alongside rising talents such as LA Knight, the prodigious 21-year-old Javon Evans, and the promising Trick Williams. “So, you got a lot of young blood versus some new blood. I’m excited to see who wants it the most cuz sometimes when you get these veterans, these guys who’ve been there before, they might take their foot off the gas just a little tiny bit. So, I’m looking forward to seeing which one of these younger guys or these newer guys who haven’t been in this spotlight to see if they can handle the pressure and they can step up to get to the next level,” Rollins commented.

The Chicago Bears Stadium Debate

The discussion then shifted to a more local topic: the potential relocation of the Chicago Bears’ stadium. While acknowledging the emotional attachment to Soldier Field, Rollins agreed with the sentiment that the team’s location is secondary to securing a modern, state-of-the-art facility. He argued that the Bears, despite their storied history, currently possess the smallest stadium in the NFL. “The Bears have the smallest stadium in the NFL. Let’s make some cash money. Stephen A. Let’s go. I want to have Wrestlemania in Chicago and we can’t do that in Soldier Field in March or April,” Rollins stated, highlighting the logistical limitations of the current venue.

The sentiment was echoed by Stephen A. Smith, who emphasized the need for the city of Chicago to prioritize retaining its NFL franchise, citing the economic and civic pride benefits. He expressed dismay at the possibility of the Bears moving to Indiana, calling it “shameful” and urging the city to “get your stuff together.”
