Madden Orloski Shines on World Autism Day
Today was a special day on NFL Live. The show celebrated World Autism Awareness Day by featuring Madden Orloski, a young artist with autism. Madden filled the studio with his amazing artwork, showcasing his incredible talent and unique perspective. His creations included NFL team logos, famous figures like Albert Einstein, and even characters from the popular Mario movie.
Dan Orloski, Madden’s father and a former NFL player, shared how emotional it was to see Madden shine. “This is his thing,” Dan said, referring to Madden’s art. “I’m so thankful that ESPN and you guys let me be a part of it.” He described it as the first time he saw Madden step out from behind any labels and truly thrive. The studio was buzzing with excitement as Madden drew live throughout the show, even taking on camera duties at one point.
A Family Affair
The Orloski family was celebrated on air. Dan spoke about the pride he felt watching Madden. “It’s okay to be emotional about this. It’s really cool,” the show’s host told him. Madden’s family, including his mother Tiffany, were watching at home, with some even hosting watch parties to support him. Madden himself expressed his love for his family, shouting out his mom, his twin brother Hunter, Noah, and his sister Lennon. He also shared his favorite things, like playing video games, eating pizza, and cheering for the Philadelphia Eagles.
“I have great artwork, great coloring, great handwriting and also I love other things. I love playing video games. I love um I love the Eagles, which I already said I love. I love eating pizza, cheeseburgers, French fries, hot dogs, and chicken nuggets. And also chocolate ice cream.”
Madden’s artistic skills were on full display. He drew portraits of the show’s hosts, including one of Matt, which was a potential new headshot. The director, Tim Ferrell, was praised for helping Madden’s artwork come to life in the studio. Even a humorous drawing of a “doink” sound effect appeared near Dan’s head, which Madden claimed he didn’t specifically request but found funny, especially with a drawing of bacon nearby.
More Than Just Art
Beyond his art, Madden showed incredible courage and personality. He sang the Eagles’ fight song with the hosts, showing his passion and connection to the team. He also spoke directly to the viewers, offering a message of thanks and encouragement. “Thank you for hanging out with us,” he said to his friends watching at home. He was called a hero by one of the hosts for his bravery and for inspiring others who might feel they can’t do something similar.
The show also touched on the Special Olympics, highlighting the belief that individuals with intellectual disabilities deserve opportunity and respect. Madden’s presence on NFL Live served as a powerful example of these values in action. As the show wrapped up, Madden drew one last piece: a game-winning field goal by Jake Elliot for the Eagles in the Super Bowl. It was a fitting end to a day celebrating talent, family, and inclusion.
While the show celebrated Madden, they also briefly touched on a report about the Philadelphia Eagles. An article suggested that quarterback Jalen Hurts’ body language and coachability were issues after their Super Bowl win. However, the hosts quickly shifted focus back to Madden, emphasizing the importance of his story and talent over the team’s struggles.
Madden Orloski’s appearance on NFL Live was a highlight, proving that passion and talent can shine through in incredible ways. His artwork and his spirit made World Autism Awareness Day a truly special occasion for everyone involved.
