Luka Doncic Gets Stem Cells in Spain for Hamstring

Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves are out for the rest of the regular season. This is tough news for the Los Angeles Lakers with only four games left. The big question is what this means for the playoffs. Many Lakers fans are worried.

The current expectation is that both Doncic and Reaves will miss playoff time. But there’s a new development this week. Doncic has traveled to Spain. He is getting an injection treatment for his hamstring injury. The goal is to help him heal faster and get back on the court sooner.

Hamstring Strain Timeline

A grade two hamstring strain usually takes four to six weeks to recover. Doncic is trying to speed up this process. It’s still unclear how well this treatment will work or how much it will help.

“He’s doing everything he can to make it back out on the court.”

Reaves has a different injury. He has a grade two oblique strain. This typically sidelines a player for most, if not all, of the first-round playoff series. The Lakers hope both players can return later in the playoffs.

Expert Opinions on Injuries

Danny Green, who has dealt with hamstring and calf injuries, shared his thoughts.

“Grade one is a smaller tear. Grade two is a little bigger or a couple small tears, and that’s what Luke is dealing with. Grade two, and if you injure it once, what she’s done before is going to take longer to heal.”

Green believes Doncic might be getting regenerative stem cell therapy in Spain, which he has used before. He noted that while this treatment can help, it might only shave off about a week from the recovery time.

“But realistically, at best, he can probably get back four to five weeks, which is the end six or seven if they can get that far.”

LeBron Carries the Load

With key players out, LeBron James will need to step up. He had 117 touches in a recent game, much higher than his season average. This shows he’s taking on more responsibility. Other players like Marcus Smart, DeAndre Ayton, and Jalen Hayes will also need to contribute more.

LeBron’s reaction to the news of Doncic and Reaves being out was strong.

“Took my nap after practice and I woke up with that news. That was like another shot to the that was like we knew we we you know it was a shot to the heart obviously and to the chest and to the main frame with Luca understanding that you know AR you know was kind of dealing with the pain.”

Curry’s Return to the Court

In brighter news for some fans, Steph Curry is back on the court for the Golden State Warriors. He played his first home game since January, coming off the bench for the first time since 2012. Curry looked sharp, scoring quickly and showing good mobility.

“To see that happen that quickly, it’s like, you know, he’s obviously 37 38 now. Unbelievable. But it showed me that he had been taking his rehab very seriously and that he had been getting some scrimmage and I don’t know where where and how and what group he’s been playing with, but he’s he’s doing it at a very good level right now.”

Curry’s return is a testament to his determination, especially dealing with knee issues. He has described his current situation as a “new normal” and may need to wear a knee pad for support. His return is a boost for the Warriors as they push for playoff positioning.

Bulls Front Office Shake-up

Elsewhere in the NBA, the Chicago Bulls have made major changes. They have fired their top front office officials, Arturas Karnisovas and Marc Eversley. The team has struggled since 2020, making the playoffs only once. Despite the front office changes, head coach Billy Donovan is expected to remain. The Bulls plan to discuss his future with him after the season.
