Finally, she picked up and said, ‘We can’t get out, we’re blocked, and everything is burning.'”

Without hesitation, the young man rushed to his grandparents’ apartment. “I got ready in a minute and came here. The door was already blown out, the lock broken, apparently from the shockwave. I went inside, the door was really blocked, completely jammed. I started breaking it down. I managed to unblock the entrance and got my grandmother and grandfather out.”

The interior of the apartment bore the brunt of the explosion. “The doors flew off, the exit to the kitchen was on fire,” described another resident who was in the apartment during the attack. “The roof was pierced, everything fell into the living room.” Images from the scene showed significant damage, with debris scattered throughout the living space and visible structural damage.

The blast wave alone was powerful enough to dislodge doors and compromise the structural integrity of the apartment’s entrance. “You can see the grain here? Above my head, all the doors. Well, the kitchen is like a convertible now,” a resident remarked, highlighting the extent of the destruction.

The successful rescue of the elderly couple underscored the bravery and quick thinking of their grandson. “Thank God everyone is alive and well.
