Iran War Looms as China Pushes for Deal
Confusion over draft registration changes and escalating tensions with Iran dominate geopolitical discussions. While China pushes for a diplomatic solution to prevent conflict, the US faces complex negotiations. Meanwhile, the First Lady addresses rumors, seeking to clear her name amidst ongoing scandals.
Iran War Looms as China Pushes for Deal
The possibility of a military conflict with Iran is growing. At the same time, China is trying to help broker a peace deal. This situation is complex, with many countries involved and their own interests at play.
Draft Talk Causes Confusion
Talk about a possible military draft has caused confusion. Sean Spicer, former White House Press Secretary, explained that a recent change in the National Defense Authorization Act was about cost savings. It shifted the process of registering for the draft from going to the post office to doing it electronically. This measure, passed earlier this year, was meant to be more efficient and save money. Spicer noted that he himself had to prove he registered for the Selective Service when he was already in the Navy. He called it a ridiculous step that should have happened long ago.
Geraldo Rivera agreed that this change was a smart, cost-saving measure. He stressed that it has nothing to do with a current draft. Rivera believes that confusing people about a draft is misinformation. He stated clearly that there will be no draft and the administration cannot start one on its own. He pointed out that failure to register for the Selective Service is a serious federal felony.
The discussion also touched on women’s eligibility for registration, with Rivera noting that women are currently excluded. He believes that having a registry of 18-year-olds is a good idea. However, he thinks a draft would only happen if Congress and the President declared a severe national emergency. Rivera sees the draft itself as a non-issue.
Iran Negotiations and Regional Tensions
The focus then shifted to the state of play regarding Iran. Rivera suggested that everything now depends on critical negotiations led by JD Vance. He believes Vance has been shown to be resistant to backroom deals and acted as the “adult in the room” regarding the war in Iran. Vance reportedly advised caution about entering a war.
Rivera also described the situation between Israel and Iran as “horrible.” He urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to call off any plan to attack Lebanon. Rivera mentioned that people close to him have family living in Lebanon. He worried that negotiations could be difficult. However, he also believes there might be a way to make a deal, perhaps related to commercializing passage through the Strait of Hormuz.
Sean Spicer added that the current team negotiating with Iran might not be the best for the job. He mentioned JD Vance, Jared Kushner, and Steve Witkoff as key figures. Spicer believes that if these three are on the same page, the President will get a balanced view. He noted that they are not all “hawks” and can give an honest assessment of whether a deal is possible.
China’s Role in Iran Deal
A significant, untold story, according to Spicer, is China’s influence on Iran’s position. He believes that Iran does not want to make a deal on its own. Spicer suggests that China is applying pressure because it needs Iranian oil. He sees China potentially acting as a savior in this situation. Reports indicate that China has told Iran to slow down and negotiate because the conflict affects them.
First Lady’s Statement and Epstein Rumors
The conversation also addressed comments made by First Lady Melania Trump. Spicer expressed perplexity but understood her desire to clear the air amidst rumors. He believes she wanted to speak for herself and address fake news about her relationship and interactions, particularly concerning Jeffrey Epstein. Spicer commended her for speaking out to make the truth known and prevent speculation.
Rivera noted that the focus on the war with Iran has taken attention away from affordability issues and the Epstein scandal. He worried that the First Lady’s statement might be an attempt to preempt something negative that could emerge. He felt she might have a reason for speaking out, perhaps due to an upcoming story from a “sleazy writer.”
Chris Cuomo questioned why the First Lady felt the need to protest so much when no one was asking questions about her. He observed that the war had shifted focus away from Epstein. Rivera, however, stated that in over ten years of investigating the Epstein connections, he had never heard a single credible rumor about the First Lady. He emphasized that survivors deserve to be heard, but he hasn’t heard anything linking her directly to the exploitation.
