Herd Rallies for Impromptu Farming Sim Session
In an unexpected turn of events, the Monday Night Herd crew fired up their virtual tractors for an impromptu session of Farming Simulator 25 on Iowa Plains. The stream, which wasn’t pre-announced, saw the usual cast of characters checking in, including Mr. Maddie, Jason, Liz, Dirty, Zack, Farm Freak, JD, John, Major, Big D, Daz, Donkey, Lisa, and Tommy, all eager to join the agricultural action.
The broadcast kicked off with the host, referred to as ‘the herd’, acknowledging the chaotic state of their in-game equipment. “My goodness, we’ve got equipment everywhere,” they lamented, setting the tone for a session focused on tidying up the virtual farm before diving into new projects. Early in the stream, the host admitted to forgetting to put in the pre-selected music, noting, “This is kind of an impromptu stream. Didn’t really uh have any idea if I was going to stream tonight or not.” This spontaneous nature, however, seemed to only add to the charm and camaraderie.
Field Day and Future Plans
A significant portion of the stream was dedicated to reorganizing the farm’s machinery. The host humorously noted having “two of everything,” including what they called a “rock collector,” which they planned to sell. The immediate agenda involved getting a worker started on mowing a specific field while the host focused on other tasks. “I do got to mow today. But I think what I’m going to do is I’m going to get this guy started on the mowing over there. That way I don’t have to mow because I want to do something else today,” they explained.
The conversation then shifted to the crucial task of fertilizing the greenhouses. “We need some cow manure here. Uh, I just said it the last time I looked right before stream. don’t have any,” the host revealed. This led to a discussion about the need to acquire manure before focusing on the greenhouses. The visual of the farm opening up after tidying was a recurring theme, with the host exclaiming, “Look at how open this is now. Wow. You know, it really opens up when you take care of it.”
A major gameplay decision was made when the host decided to purchase Field 23 for a hefty sum of $491,000. The field, which was already plowed, presented a new opportunity. “I think what I’m going to do, since it looks like it’s already plowed. Am I going crazy? Soil. No data found,” the host mused, before considering planting options.
Planting Seeds for Success
The strategic decision for Field 23 involved planting oilseed radish. “I can do wheat, but it’s in a couple months. That would help out the chickens quite a bit. I can do canola. That would be incredible. Uh, I can’t do canola today, but I can put down some oil seed. That will help with the yield. And then I can plant in August. I think that’s what I’m going to do. So, we are going to put some oil seed radish on that field,” the host outlined their plan. This move is intended to prepare the field for a future canola harvest, which is expected to be a significant money-maker.
Personal Reflections and Community Connection
Beyond the gameplay, the stream provided a platform for personal reflections and community interaction. The host shared an anecdote about being rejected for a job at a grocery store, despite usually excelling in interviews. “I always joke to Missurd that I could do that for a living because most of the time I would say a high 90% of the time that I go for a job interview, I end up getting it. Uh, and today I was reject I was rejected,” they admitted, adding that the job wasn’t their ideal choice anyway and that they have other promising interviews lined up.
The conversation also touched upon the host’s recovery and improved speech after a recent medical issue. “Update on my face. Doing pretty well. I can pretty much smile the whole way. Uh, my speech is a little better. Uh, it does still feel weird to talk. It still feels like it was before, but everything else is great,” they shared, expressing immense gratitude for their progress and support from “Miss Herd.”
The community engagement was palpable, with viewers sharing updates on their holidays, offering advice, and engaging in lighthearted banter. The topic of pizza sparked a discussion about California versus New York styles, with the host reminiscing about their New York roots while currently being in California. The stream also served as a reminder of the upcoming comeback episode of the host’s roleplay series, which has been a cornerstone of the channel’s content for months.
Looking Ahead
As the impromptu stream wound down, the focus remained on the ongoing tasks of managing the farm, planting crops, and preparing for future harvests. The herd’s dedication to their virtual agricultural pursuits, coupled with their genuine connection with the community, ensures that Monday Night Herd continues to be a must-watch event for Farming Simulator enthusiasts. With the roleplay series comeback on the horizon and the farm operations progressing, the future looks promising for the Iowa Plains.
The broadcast also featured a special segment on “Nacho Cast,” the official radio station of the herd, adding another layer of entertainment to the immersive farming experience.
