Garcia: “Most Corrupt AG” Pam Bondi Should Testify on Epstein Files
Rep. Robert Garcia calls former AG Pam Bondi the "most corrupt" in U.S. history and demands her testimony regarding the Epstein case. Bondi is subpoenaed to appear before the House Oversight Committee, despite her upcoming transition out of office. Survivors are calling for accountability and transparency from the justice system.
Garcia Demands Testimony from Former AG Bondi on Epstein Case
U.S. Representative Robert Garcia stated that former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi, whom he called the “most corrupt AG in the history of the United States,” is expected to testify before the House Oversight Committee in two weeks. Garcia expressed relief at Bondi’s departure from her position, alleging she orchestrated a “White House cover-up” and mishandled sensitive information related to survivors of Jeffrey Epstein’s abuse. “She has doxxed survivors, released their information, has meddled in U.S. elections, and so I’m glad to see her,” Garcia said.
Subpoena Stands Despite Bondi’s Transition
Despite Bondi’s upcoming transition out of her role, Garcia emphasized that a subpoena requiring her testimony remains valid. “The subpoena that we put in place where all Democrats and some Republicans joined us, her position currently to testify. That subpoena doesn’t say or specify whether she needs to be in her position to testify,” he explained. He confirmed that lawyers and the committee agree Bondi is obligated to appear. Garcia believes this is a crucial opportunity for Bondi to “come clean” and reveal why a “massive cover-up” occurred and why the remaining files have not been released.
Concerns Over Potential Successors
The conversation also touched upon potential successors to Bondi, with names like Lee Zeldin being discussed. Garcia voiced strong opposition to Zeldin, calling him an “election denier” who is “very close” to Donald Trump and would likely do whatever Trump wants. “I hope that the Senate stands. It’s been a shame to watch so many senators cave and vote for some of these nominees,” Garcia stated, advocating for zero votes for any Trump appointee who is not loyal to the Constitution.
Survivors Demand Accountability and Transparency
Annie Farmer, an Epstein survivor, issued a statement highlighting that the issue extends beyond Bondi to the broader government and judicial system. “Survivors deserve accountability, transparency, protection from retaliation, and assurance that those who enabled Epstein Maxwell and others will be investigated, and if appropriate, prosecuted,” Farmer wrote. Garcia echoed these sentiments, expressing disgust at how Bondi, the DOJ, and the FBI have handled the materials and treated survivors. He noted that survivors have been doxxed and put in danger, yet Bondi never met with them to discuss their concerns.
“The frustration that you hear from Annie and other survivors is also just the human decency. Where is the respect of and I think that is the respect to actually listen to their stories, to work with them to actually get some justice.”
Broader Implications for Justice System
Garcia argued that the courts and juries are standing strong against attempts to manipulate the justice system for political ends. He believes that Trump does not understand that whoever he appoints will face the same challenges because the court system is functioning as a check. “We’ve got to be committed to the same exact fight, the same exact pushback that we gave Pam Bondi. We’ve got to stand on justice, focus on the survivors, and getting the truth and transparency,” Garcia concluded.
Looking Ahead: Bondi’s Testimony and DOJ Scrutiny
The focus now shifts to Pam Bondi’s scheduled testimony. Her appearance will be critical in shedding light on the handling of the Epstein files and the alleged cover-up. The public will be watching to see if she provides truthful and transparent answers, and whether this event prompts further scrutiny of the Department of Justice’s actions and its treatment of survivors. The ongoing debate over potential nominees also highlights the deep partisan divides concerning loyalty to the Constitution versus loyalty to political figures.
