Farming Sim Town Takes Shape: Roads, Gas Station Added
The new Farming Simulator town-building series is off to a strong start, with players establishing a home base, laying down roads, and constructing essential services like a municipal building and a rural gas station. Future plans include a farm store, houses, an industrial center with a communal silo, and a vital water source.
Farming Sim Town Takes Shape: Roads, Gas Station Added
The journey to build a brand-new town in Farming Simulator has officially begun! In the latest episodes of this ambitious series, players are laying the groundwork for a bustling community, starting with essential infrastructure like roads, a gas station, and even a place to grab some supplies.
Laying the Foundation: Roads and Home Base
The vision is grand: connect two sides of the map and create a realistic, lived-in town. The first step involved establishing a humble ‘home base,’ an arable farm meant to be a temporary starting point. This initial farm features a simple gravel driveway, setting the tone for a grounded, realistic build. The player emphasized a practical approach, opting for an arable farm without animals initially to manage tasks more easily.
A key part of establishing the town’s infrastructure involves using specific tools for different purposes. The largest tractor, reserved for municipal tasks, is being used for plowing fields. This highlights a system where size and type of equipment denote function, from town services to individual farms. The plan is to create two generic arable fields, with the specific crops to be determined later as the town’s needs become clearer. This organic approach allows the town’s economy to guide its development.
Building the Town’s Core: Municipal Hub and Gas Station
The development quickly moved towards essential services. A municipal building, designed to house town equipment and workers, was placed. This involved laying down pavement and constructing a garage and town office. The process wasn’t without its challenges, with the player noting difficulties in drawing straight lines and adjusting terrain, humorously admitting to making mistakes but embracing them as part of the channel’s style.
Next up was a small, rural gas station, strategically placed near a road split to maximize accessibility. The goal is to create a functional outline of the town, with detailed decorations planned for later episodes to avoid bogging down the game’s performance. The gas station features a simple picket fence, adding to the rural aesthetic. The player also expressed a desire for better building tools in Farming Simulator, like an ‘undo’ button and an eyedropper tool for roads, which would greatly improve the building experience and allow for more experimentation.
Adding Character: Farm Store, Houses, and Industry
To make the area feel more lived-in, a small farm store was added to a corner lot, designed to resemble an old farm converted into a business. This provides a focal point for the growing community. Following this, several houses were placed along a rural road, ranging from mobile homes to smaller, single-story houses, giving the impression that people actually live and work in the area.
The industrial aspect of the town is also taking shape. An industrial center is being developed, intended to house a communal grain silo. Farmers will deliver their crops here, and the town will manage redistribution and production. This industrial zone is deliberately placed away from the main town area, anticipating the arrival of larger vehicles like tractor-trailers. The plan is to eventually make these production points fully functional, adding another layer of depth to the series.
Essential Services: Water and Future Plans
Crucially, a water source was added to ensure the town’s survival. This well is positioned centrally, with a driveway leading up to it, allowing residents to collect water. The player humorously noted that this system relies on the honesty of the town’s inhabitants, emphasizing the need for their tax money. The series is progressing steadily, with plans to continue adding more buildings and details in upcoming episodes. The focus remains on building a believable and functional town, step by step.
