Braun: Nuggets Must Win After 2 Years of Playoff Heartbreak
Christian Braun declares it's time for the Denver Nuggets to win after two years of playoff heartbreak. He reflects on his career, embracing recent injury adversity as a learning experience that has refocused him on the ultimate goal: a championship.
Braun Vows Nuggets Must Win After Two Years of Playoff Heartbreak
Denver Nuggets guard Christian Braun is making a bold declaration: it’s time to win. After two consecutive seasons ending in playoff disappointment, Braun is channeling his drive and determination into a singular goal – hoisting the Larry O’Brien trophy. This upcoming season, he asserts, will be his biggest test yet, a sentiment born from a desire to contribute at the highest level for his team and the fans.
A New Season, A New Mindset
Braun, who signed a new deal, expressed a deep-seated commitment to elevate his game. “I really, really want to be good for the team, you know? I want to be good for you guys. I want to win. It’s time to win. We’ve lost two years in a row,” he stated emphatically. This isn’t just about individual performance for Braun; it’s about collective success and erasing the sting of recent playoff exits.
Navigating Adversity: A Learning Experience
Unlike previous seasons where he enjoyed consistent playing time and good health, Braun acknowledges facing a different kind of challenge this year. “I think this year is my biggest test. No doubt,” he admitted. He reflected on his career thus far, noting a relative lack of significant adversity. “Like, I said this too in past years. I don’t know that I’ve had I have had ups and downs playing obviously. You know, you have good games, you have bad games. But I haven’t had a stretch of down like like very often. Like I’ve had a it’s been pretty easy for me. Like I I play every night. I haven’t had the situation, you know, where I’m not playing or I’m can’t figure out why I’m not in the game. Like I’ve played every night. Coaches have given me opportunities every night. Um GMs have um put me in really good spots, you know, so I can’t really complain. And then, you know, I haven’t had injuries. I’ve I’ve played pretty much every game, you know, of my whole career, you know, from high school on.”
However, this past season presented a different narrative. A calf injury early on, followed by an ankle injury, disrupted his rhythm and prevented him from feeling like his usual self. “So I didn’t feel like myself and I think this is the longest like up and down period I’ve had,” Braun confessed. “And I’m learning I think a ton like this is maybe the first period of adversity and uh learn a lot about myself.”
Refocusing Through Rehab and Resilience
The injury struggles, while initially frustrating, have become a catalyst for growth. Braun views this period of adversity as a valuable learning experience. “Kind of refocuses you in a way too. Um, but I think I’ve learned so much just about like the rehab process, what people go through and um, so this has been it’s been good for me.” He candidly shared his initial reaction: “Like at first I’m like, man, why me, you know, why why my ankle?” But his perspective shifted as he recognized his prior good fortune. “But I’ve had such good, you know, good luck, good fortune with injuries and good my career. I think that um, it’s good for me to learn. Adversity is good for me and I think it’s refocused me in a way.”
Looking Ahead: Health and Championship Aspirations
With the lessons learned from adversity, Braun is now looking forward with renewed focus and determination. His primary hope is to remain healthy for the upcoming season, allowing him to fully contribute to the Nuggets’ championship aspirations. “So um, you know, hopefully going forward I, you know, stay healthy,” he concluded, underscoring the team’s collective goal to overcome past disappointments and achieve ultimate success.
