Bonci Firing Fuels Epstein Files Probe; Survivor Demands Answers
Pam Bondi has resigned as acting attorney general, just weeks before a crucial deposition related to the Jeffrey Epstein files. Survivors and lawmakers question the timing, with many believing it's an attempt to avoid accountability. The focus now shifts to whether Bondi will testify and what justice truly means for the victims.
Bonci Out Amid Epstein Files Controversy
Pam Bondi has abruptly resigned as acting attorney general, a move that has drawn sharp criticism. The departure comes less than two weeks before a scheduled deposition concerning her handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files. Both Democrats and Republicans have voiced concerns over Bondi’s actions while in office.
Democrats See Calculated Exit
Lawmakers, including Florida Congresswoman Maxwell Frost, suggest Bondi’s firing is a strategic attempt to distance the administration from the ongoing Epstein investigation. “He wants to move beyond this,” Frost stated, implying a desire to escape past public statements about his knowledge of Epstein.
Republican lawmakers, such as Nancy Mayes, have vowed to ensure Bondi testifies regardless of her current job status. They argue she remains legally obligated to appear under the panel’s subpoena due to her personal knowledge of the events.
Survivor Questions Timing and Accountability
Danielle Benski, an Epstein abuse survivor, shared her perspective on Bondi’s sudden departure. “It sure does seem convenient,” Benski remarked, but expressed hope that Bondi would still appear for her deposition. “There have been so many failures that she really just needs to answer for,” she added.
Benski emphasized the importance of accountability for the “egregious mishandling of the files” during Bondi’s leadership. Survivors, she explained, have long sought answers to numerous questions regarding the investigation.
Focus Shifts to Todd Blanche
While Bondi’s testimony is crucial, Benski noted that the focus is now shifting to Todd Blanche, an attorney involved in the case. Survivors reportedly have significant questions about his past engagement with Ghislaine Maxwell and his perceived lack of response to victims. Benski also questioned Blanche’s current position, especially after he denied that the files were mishandled, a claim Benski and many others dispute.
“Everybody from here to Mars could see that they absolutely were mishandled,” Benski stated firmly. She expressed a desire to understand Blanche’s strategy and his approach to the ongoing issues.
“I think that while, of course, we want Bondi to show up and she needs to testify, and she has a lot to answer for. I think our focus is really shifting now to can we hear from Todd Blanche? Like what is his strategy here?”

Blanche Denies Link to Epstein Files
Todd Blanche, in a separate statement, denied any connection between Bondi’s firing and the Epstein files. “I have never heard President Trump say that the attorney general was, anything that happened to her had anything to do with the Epstein files,” Blanche said.
He described the Epstein files as a year-long “saga” and suggested the administration is eager to “turn the page.” Benski countered this, calling such language dismissive of the survivors’ experiences. “We are not living in Star Wars, right? These are survivor lives,” she argued, urging for the matter to be taken more seriously.
Uncertainty Over Bondi’s Testimony
Benski expressed doubt about Bondi’s willingness to appear for her deposition, even after leaving her official post. “I have said from the beginning that I highly doubt that she will show up,” Benski admitted. However, she noted a slight possibility that Bondi might appear now that she is no longer acting attorney general, though her faith remains low.
What Does Justice Mean?
More than two months after the Department of Justice released a significant portion of the Epstein files, and following high-profile arrests like Ghislaine Maxwell and the attention on Prince Andrew, no new charges have been filed. Benski outlined what justice looks like for survivors, extending beyond mere arrests.
“We hope that they are held to account for their crimes, right? So that looks different for every layer,” she explained. Justice, for Benski and other survivors, also involves systemic change. This includes removing honors for those who misused power, such as statues or even renaming scholarships. They are also hopeful that the DOJ will initiate further investigations into the broader network of individuals involved.
Looking Ahead
The upcoming deposition of Pam Bondi, regardless of her official title, remains a critical point. Survivors and lawmakers alike are watching closely to see if she will indeed testify and provide the answers they seek. The ongoing scrutiny of Todd Blanche’s involvement and the Department of Justice’s next steps in investigating potential co-conspirators will also be key areas to monitor in the pursuit of accountability.
