Survivor Calls Melania Trump’s Testimony Plea ‘Asinine’

Survivors of Jeffrey Epstein’s abuse have voiced strong criticism following a recent speech by First Lady Melania Trump. While Trump denied any personal ties to Epstein or his associate Ghislaine Maxwell, she called for public congressional hearings where victims could share their stories. However, a group of survivors quickly responded, stating that Trump’s request was a way of shifting responsibility onto them. They emphasized that they have been actively sharing their experiences and demanding action for a long time.

Survivors Demand Action, Not More Testimony

In a statement, the survivors argued that asking them to testify further at this point is a deflection from real justice. They believe they have done their part and that it is now time for those in power to take responsibility. Haley, one of Epstein’s abuse survivors, joined a news program to discuss her reaction. She questioned why the First Lady hadn’t reached out to survivors who have already come forward publicly or privately.

“Asking more of them now is a deflection of responsibility, not justice. And survivors have done their part. Now it’s time for those in power to do theirs.”

Haley expressed that Trump’s remarks did not feel like genuine support for survivors. She stressed that a survivor-centered approach would involve investigating individuals connected to Epstein’s crimes, such as former attorney general Todd Blanche, and questioning the circumstances around Ghislaine Maxwell’s transfer. Haley stated that survivors need to feel safe, heard, and seen by the administration, which she feels has not happened.

Calls for Investigation Over Public Hearings

Haley found the idea of more public testimony from survivors to be “asinine.” She explained that many survivors have already shared their stories publicly or testified before grand juries and in courts. Instead of asking for more testimony, Haley insisted that what is needed now are thorough investigations into the perpetrators. She pointed out that names of potential co-conspirators have already been mentioned in public forums, yet investigations into these individuals have been lacking.

“I think right now what we need is we need investigations,” Haley stated. “They have the names. Thomas Massey and Rohan O’Connor read some of those names on the House floor. So I’m not sure on why there’s yet to be any investigations into the perpetrators that have already been named in those files.” She added that while these are currently allegations, authorities must do their job and investigate to uncover the truth. Haley voiced a lack of faith in Todd Blanche and the current administration, also noting that Republicans in Congress had been unreceptive to meeting with survivors.

Accountability, Justice, and Transparency

When asked what accountability, justice, and transparency look like moving forward, Haley reiterated the need to stop pressuring survivors for testimony. She believes accountability means turning allegations into trials where the men involved must testify under oath about their knowledge and involvement. Haley emphasized that the focus should be on investigating the crimes and bringing those responsible to justice, rather than placing further burdens on victims.

Openness to Dialogue, Despite Past Frustrations

Despite the frustration with the First Lady’s initial remarks, Haley expressed willingness to meet with Melania Trump or anyone else genuinely interested in seeking justice for survivors. She stated, “I would accept any invitation from anybody in this administration or outside this administration that are interested in actual justice in actually hearing the survivors.” Haley acknowledged that it took courage for Melania Trump to bring attention back to the Epstein case, especially when other global issues were dominating headlines. She expressed gratitude for the acknowledgment, even if the approach was flawed.

Haley concluded by saying she is very open to speaking with the First Lady or anyone else who is serious about investigating the crimes and listening to survivors’ experiences. She hopes that such dialogue can lead to meaningful action and a path toward justice for those who have suffered.
