Comedian Brad Williams Found Love on Dating App
Comedian Brad Williams shared how a joke dating profile led to him meeting his wife, a taekwondo instructor. He detailed their unique courtship, his views on dating preferences within the dwarf community, and his wife's impressive strength, including a story where she knocked out a man in Vegas.
Brad Williams Found His Match on a Joke Profile
Comedian Brad Williams didn’t expect to find love on a dating app, especially not through a profile created as a joke. But that’s exactly how he met his wife, and their story is as funny and unexpected as a stand-up routine.
From Radio Bit to Real Life
Williams, who stands at 4-foot-4, was living in San Francisco and didn’t know many people. To help him meet folks, his radio show in San Francisco played a game called “Tinder or Grinder.” Every day, he’d flip a coin to decide whether to go on a date with someone from Tinder or Grindr. Yes, he even went on a date with a man he called “Ginger Bear” as part of the bit.
One day, the coin landed on Tinder. He matched with a 5-foot-7 taekwondo instructor, a beautiful Chinese woman. “We’ve been married 8 years and we got a six-year-old together,” Williams shared.
Love at First Coffee
Williams admitted he never thought he’d use a dating app. He was a comedian, used to making people laugh and thought he’d be a single guy forever. But when he met his future wife for coffee, things changed fast. “Within the first 15 minutes I was like, ‘Oh [expletive], I’m in trouble,'” he recalled. He was surprised by how smart and funny she was, firing back at his jokes.
Even when Williams tried to end the relationship because he was moving back to Los Angeles, she wasn’t having it. “Nah, you didn’t want to end it. You you playing,” she told him. He knew then it was meant to be.
Dating Outside the Box
Williams doesn’t have a strict dating type. He’s dated women ranging from 3-foot-7 to 6-foot-2. He also mentioned that he’s dated people of different ethnicities, including Black and Mexican girlfriends, and several little people before meeting his wife.
He also touched on a common observation: “Do little women get upset when they see dwarf men dating… Yes, they do.” He explained that in the dwarf community, the dating pool is smaller, so sometimes women feel like a taller woman has “taken one of ours.” He noted that some dwarf men also feel similarly when average-sized men date dwarf women.
A Woman of Strength
Williams’ wife is a fourth-degree black belt in taekwondo, and her skills are impressive. He recalled meeting her martial arts instructor, which felt like meeting her dad. During dinner, the instructor had him punch a heavy bag, which barely moved. Then, he asked Williams’ then-girlfriend to kick it.
“She kicks this bag and this bag GOES LIKE FLIES UP and back,” Williams said, amazed. He realized then that she was a serious martial artist. “I’m not going to lie, Shannon, it’s hot,” he added.
Vegas Showdown
He shared a story from a trip to Vegas. A guy started hitting on his wife at a whiskey bar. Despite Williams being there, the man ignored him and told him to shut up. “And that Shannon is the last thing that guy remembers,” Williams stated.
His wife, in heels, delivered a front kick to the man’s face, knocking him out. Security and his friends were stunned, and then started laughing. “It was the hottest thing I’d ever seen,” Williams said. “My wife knocked out him. I love that.”
A Partnership Built to Last
Williams praised his wife’s business sense, noting she runs their company, “Shortcomings Comedy LLC.” He sees himself as the performer, the “dancing monkey,” while she handles everything else. “Man, I can’t do this [expletive] without her,” he admitted.
Their relationship is strong, and he knows he has to behave himself. “Watch my P’s and Q’s. I got to watch my tongue,” he joked. Despite her strength, he emphasized, “We have an amazing relationship. We have a wonderful daughter.”
