Iran Regime Facing Collapse, Researcher Claims
Hosro is Fahhani, a researcher, argues that Iran's ruling regime is showing critical signs of collapse, despite its historical resilience. He points to public discontent, weakening security forces, and a 'brain dead' leadership as indicators of impending downfall.
Iran Regime on Brink of Collapse, Researcher Argues
The Iranian regime is showing critical signs of weakness and could be heading towards collapse, according to Hosro is Fahhani, a campaigner and research director at the National Union for Democracy in Iran. Speaking from Washington D.C., Fahhani stated that despite recent military actions against Iran, the core issue remains the nature of the Islamic Republic itself.
Regime’s Resilience and International Actions
Fahhani described the Islamic Republic as a regime that, even when severely challenged, projects an image of victory. He noted that the initial hope during the recent conflict was that military strikes would lead to the regime’s downfall and inspire a popular uprising. However, the expected widespread public revolt has not materialized, partly due to brutal repression following earlier protests. Fahhani explained that the current strategy, aimed at ‘decapitating’ the regime’s leadership, has instead led to more extreme hardliners taking control.
“We are dealing with a regime that if you shove a sword through its heart, it will hold its head high and proclaim victory.”
Signs of Internal Unrest and Public Sentiment
Contrary to assumptions that the public is simply too intimidated to protest, Fahhani revealed that even recent celebrations like Noruz in March turned into anti-regime demonstrations. He also mentioned Iranians visiting the graves of slain protesters, chanting against the Islamic Republic. A particularly telling moment, he shared, was a mother addressing the United States and Israel, thanking them for military operations that brought joy to the hearts of grieving mothers. This indicates a strong public desire for change and support for external intervention.
“The mood that is coming out of Iran is that people are fighting against this regime. Finally, help has arrived,” Fahhani stated, suggesting a sense of hope among Iranians.
Concerns Over Premature End to Conflict
Despite these signs, Fahhani acknowledged that the regime has not been completely neutralized. He pointed out that Iran can still retaliate against Gulf States, possesses enriched uranium, and controls the Strait of Hormuz, which impacts the global economy. He warned that allowing the regime to survive could embolden it further.
Fahhani expressed concern that a premature end to the conflict, especially one that leaves the current government in power, would be a significant defeat for the Iranian people and the world. He characterized the regime’s only viable solutions as either complete destruction or total, humiliating surrender.
The Regime’s ‘Brain Dead’ State
Fahhani believes the regime is acting out of ‘muscle memory,’ essentially running on autopilot. He described its actions, including attacks on neighboring countries, as a historical playbook of ‘de-escalation through escalation.’ He criticized past international responses, suggesting that the world has consistently backed down when faced with the regime’s perceived ‘madman’ tactics.
He drew a parallel between the regime’s actions and a ‘death cult,’ citing its rhetoric about exporting terrorism and occupying the world, as well as its constitution’s aim of establishing a universal government. Fahhani argued that the world would be a better place with a different government in Tehran.
Evidence of Regime Weakness
Looking for signs of the regime cracking, Fahhani pointed to the dysfunction within its security forces. He cited an exclusive report indicating that thousands of Basij militia members have been killed or injured, with many others failing to report for duty. This suggests the regime is gradually losing its oppressive arms.
“The regime is absolutely dysfunctional when you look at its arms of oppression, the Basie militia,” Fahhani said. He added that the leadership has been ‘decapitated,’ leaving remaining officials as ‘brain dead’ individuals merely repeating past patterns rather than engaging in creative thought.
The Future of Iran
Despite the current challenges, Fahhani remains optimistic about the long-term future. He emphasized the deep history of the Iranian nation, predating the current regime by millennia. He believes the Iranian people will eventually rise up and reclaim their homeland. The strategy, he explained, is for the people to remain patient, stay safe as advised by leaders like President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu, and wait for the right moment to return to the streets.
“This regime is going to fall. The Iranian nation has been around for millennia. It’s going to rise up again and reclaim its homeland,” Fahhani concluded, expressing confidence in the eventual triumph of the Iranian people over the current Islamic Republic.
