Conway Slams Dem Arrogance on Trump’s Iran Strikes
Kellyanne Conway has sharply criticized Democratic "arrogance and ignorance" regarding President Trump's decision to strike Iran, arguing that opposition is politically motivated. The panel discussed the multifaceted threat posed by Iran and contrasted Trump's direct approach with previous administrations' ineffective policies.
Conway Criticizes Democratic ‘Arrogance’ Over Trump’s Iran Action
Former Trump Counsel Kellyanne Conway has sharply criticized what she describes as the “arrogance and ignorance” of Democrats regarding President Trump’s decision to strike Iran. Speaking on a Fox News panel, Conway argued that opposition to the military action stems from partisan politics rather than a genuine concern for national security. She highlighted a recent Fox News poll indicating that 61% of Americans perceive Iran as a threat, with nuclear capabilities being a significant concern.
The Iranian Threat: A Clear and Present Danger?
The discussion centered on the multifaceted threat posed by Iran, encompassing nuclear ambitions, ballistic missile development, and state-sponsored terrorism. Conway and fellow panelist Charlie Hurt emphasized that the reality of these threats is often downplayed or ignored by political opponents. Hurt pointed to comments from Senator Chris Murphy, suggesting a disconnect between Democratic rhetoric and the established facts of Iran’s destabilizing actions.
“There is a threat. A nuclear threat, a ballistic missiles threat and there is a terrorist threat,” Hurt stated, referencing the acknowledgment of these dangers by defense lawyer David Boies. “You may not like Trump, fine, you can back somebody else, but to oppose the war itself is to do your country and your children a great disservice.”
Trump’s Approach: Cutting the Head of the Snake
Conway and Hurt contrasted President Trump’s direct approach to confronting Iran with the policies of previous administrations. They argued that Trump is the first president to take decisive action against Iran’s threats, rather than relying on sanctions or proxy engagements that have proven ineffective. Hurt described Trump’s strategy as “cutting the head of the snake off” by confronting Iran directly.
Kellyanne Conway elaborated on this, stating, “Donald Trump is there to turn the tables over and his legacy building and a doer.” She criticized the Obama administration’s handling of Iran, citing the $400 million in cash sent to the regime and the removal of Hezbollah and Hamas from foreign terrorist organization designations.
Partisanship Over Security: A Dangerous Game
A central theme of the discussion was the accusation that Democrats are prioritizing political gain over the safety of Americans. Conway asserted that Trump’s actions have “smoked people out,” revealing that many in Washington “do not care about security. They don’t care about the safety of America. They care about political power and partisanship.”
Charlie Hurt echoed this sentiment, questioning the political decisions made by Democrats. “Think about what it says about somebody who would make a political decision based on that over the safety and the security of Americans,” he remarked. Hurt also noted the hypocrisy of Democrats who have previously supported military actions against other adversaries, such as Russia in Ukraine or Hamas, yet now oppose Trump’s actions against Iran.
The Midterm Elections: A Potential Sleeper Issue
The panel speculated that the conflict with Iran could become a significant issue in the upcoming midterm elections. Conway suggested that opposition to Trump’s decisive foreign policy could backfire on Democrats, turning the issue into a “sleeper mid-term issue.” She argued that voters will recognize the need for decisive action to address threats, both domestically and abroad.
“We are going to confront it head-on and you’re correct the reason this is in the mid-terms is go back one plus short year ago. President Trump got elected for many reasons but one was strength over weakness and the other one was he’s a guy who refuses to look the other way,” Conway explained.
Beyond Partisanship: The Existential Threat
Despite the political polarization, the panelists agreed that the threat posed by Iran is an existential one that demands a strong response. “This is not a political move. This is a foreign policy strength,” Charlie Hurt emphasized, noting that Trump is “governing, not campaigning.” He added that any further terrorist attacks on U.S. soil could dramatically shift public opinion in favor of Trump’s assertive stance.
Kellyanne Conway concluded by highlighting Trump’s unique record, stating, “Every past president since Bill Clinton, Republican and Democrats alike, has declared that Iran should not be permitted to develop nuclear weapons. That’s so easy. Here is his next line. Not one acted to prevent it. Not one. Every president since Reagan has condemned Iran’s role in terrorism against American citizen interest and allies. Not one acted to stop it except Donald Trump.”
